A Parade of Whitestone Folks

May 31 was the day of the annual Tonasket Founder's Day Parade. As always, it had everything a good parade needs.

There were horses and rodeo queens...

...marching bands...

...floats...

...antique and restored cars...

...and even Smoky the Bear.

But it also had some of our own Whitestone people. Here comes Pat Liley driving some kind of electric-powered contraption.

He tells me that it still has some bugs: it can't recharge itself yet. So Pat had to be pushed the last few blocks.

Over there are the "Fairy Godmothers" promoting lifelong exercise and good health.

And among them, second from the right, is Betty Holmes.

And here comes the famous "Pink Lady," a beautifully restored 1957 T-bird.

Inside, having the time of their lives, as usual, are the proud owners, Fred and Freda Holmes.

This isn't the first time these folks have been in the parade, and it won't be the last. And along with them were other Whitestone folks helping along the route or through the day with various displays and projects. Next year I'll try to get photos of everybody.

Until then, if there's something going on that celebrates or supports our local community, look closely. You're sure to see some Whitestone folks.
