Special Training Edition |
March 7, 2014
Several people have asked if deacon pre-conference workshops will be offered before the Columbus Annual Conference. The answer is yes, but in an expanded fashion: this year the workshops (on Wednesday, July 2) are on topics selected to be of interest not just to deacons, but to a wide range of congregational leaders.
The morning offering, facilitated by my colleague Stan Dueck, is called Restoring Hope: Transforming Lives and Congregations. In the afternoon I will be presenting a session on the role of congregations in issues of mental health. Full descriptions and registration information can be found here (PDF); you can also register online (using a credit card) at www.brethren.org/ACtraining.
Between now and Annual Conference, I will be offering several other workshops, beginning with two webinars on Saturday, April 12. These webinars are offered through "Ventures in Christian Discipleship", a program of McPherson College. The morning session is on Deaconing in Small Congregations, and in the afternoon I will be talking about the Gift of Grief. For more information and to register, visit www.mcpherson.edu/ventures.
The Church Planting Conference will be held May 15-17 at Bethany Seminary in Richmond, Indiana. Among the many options for workshops are two that I will be offering: Listening with an Intercultural Heart, and Building a Culture of Care.
I hope to see you in Columbus, Richmond, or online!
