Thank you to Scott Hylton for this letter bringing this need to our attention.

Dear Whitestone Family,

It was about this time last year that you helped the New Horizons Ministries supply homeless youth that they serve with various toiletry and hygiene supplies along with a substantial donation of cash that helped them build a computer room to better serve the kids. I was astonished at the generosity of such a small group of people, but also not surprised as I know how God works in that congregation.

I had asked at that time to help because as one person I cannot do much, and I was touched by how they are helping those who need the most help, in times of the most need. We also know the Lord wants us to ask for help. In that case, Mary had asked our group to think of ways to help because they had a specific immediate need.

A year later our group was asked by another Christian Non-Profit to help them fill a specific immediate need. Raven Rock Ranch is a service that rescues abused horses. That in and of itself is a noble cause, but it is not the bulk of what they do. The truly miraculous thing is that they rehabilitate these horses and use them for Equine-Facilitated Therapy for troubled, abused and other at risk kids and youth. The kids develop bonds with the horses and also learn responsibilities that are large parts of the recovery for them.

I won’t go into great detail about the service but I hear stories almost monthly about miracles that are being done through Raven Rock Ranch. They also function at zero cost to kids and their families. Currently they are at full capacity because they only have a small staff and they can only serve the kids while they’re out of school. You all know it’s cloudy and rainy a lot over here so the days can even be shorter when the skies aren’t clear and they do not have a covered area with lighting to extend their sessions into the evening. They have plans to build this facility but it costs about $80,000 and they are about $40,000 short.
That’s where I thought of everyone there at Whitestone and knew that I should at least ask for help. They are trying to get 40 donations of $1000 but they know God works in many ways to fulfill needs like these. If you see it as a valuable use of mission funds, Ann-Marie and I would like to kick in whatever the difference is between what you choose to give and $1000.

I only ask for your consideration and we know that God will provide his guidance where he sees fit.
Thank you and I love you all,

Scott Hylton
