The morning session will be led by Stan Dueck, Director of Transforming Practices, and will focus on Restoring Hope: Transforming Lives and Congregations. Practical resources will be shared for helping people rediscover hope, hope that will transform congregations, creating vital communities of faith. I (Donna Kline, Director of Deacon Ministry) will offer the afternoon session on The Role of Congregations in Mental Health, presenting ways that faith communities and people engaged in mental health recovery can work together to educate their communities about mental illness, and equip them to develop supportive responses through relationships and practices that facilitate recovery. Both workshops are relevant for deacons, as well as for others in church leadership positions. Register online with your credit card, ordownload a paper form (PDF) and pay by check. Open Roof Award The deadline is drawing near for nominations for the 2014 Open Roof Awards, presented annually to a congregation or district in the Church of the Brethren that has made great strides in becoming accessible to people with disabilities and offering opportunities for them to serve. This award is presented at the Mission and Ministry Board meeting just prior to the start of Annual Conference. Do you know of a Church of the Brethren congregation or district that has done something extraordinary to serve—or be served by—those with disabilities? Tell us about it, even if it's your own!
